Background of Zara

Ay, who doesn't know "ZARA", one of the greatest fashion retailers in this world? Don't worry, I'm not talking the style and higher-end clothing fashions. I'm sure you guys are the fashion expert and able to check it out at one of the stores at your nearest place or from the website. And I don't accuse you for not liking their style either.
It's interesting to know a bit of the history behind "ZARA". So, the founder of ZARA is Amancio Ortega Gaona (born 28th of March 1936). He along with his then wife Rosalia Mera are the chairman of Inditex Group. He owns 59.29% of the Inditex group (Industrias de Diseño Textil Sociedad Anónima). Inditex Group is the parent company of ZARA and also other brands such as: Massimo Dutti, Oysho, Zara Home, Kiddy's Class, Tempe, Stradivarius, Pull and Bear/Often and Bershka. Amancio Ortega was ranked by Forbes as the richest man in Spain, the second richest man in Europe, and one of the top richest people in the world (net worth US$31 billion) in 2011. In 1975 he opened the first ZARA store in a central street in downtown A Coruña, Galicia, Spain.
ZARA is known by the world as fast fashion and low cost production, because they prefer using the cost of advertising for investing a percentage of revenues in opening new stores instead. And that is why in Businessworld magazines describe it as "ZARA was a fashion imitator".
In 1980, the company started its international expansion through Porto Portugal. In 1989, it entered the United States and in 1990 France.
This international expansion was increased in the 1990s, with Mexico (1992), Greece (1993), Belgium and Sweden (1994), etc. until reaching its current presence in over 73 countries (including Australia ^_~).
